The People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond staff continues to work remotely and our physical office will remain closed until further notice. Also, all Undoing Racism® workshops for the months of April and May have been cancelled and will be rescheduled once it is safe to do so. We want to hear from you! Please take a moment and fill us in by completing this one minute survey.
PISAB realizes that there will be an even greater need for anti-racist organizing in the wake of this global pandemic. During this national disaster, it is clear that racism and racial disparities will continue to intensify for Black people and other people of color. Racism and the way it shows up as racial and ethnic disparity in our communities make us all even more susceptible to the virus and the repercussions that come with it. Two articles that give clear insight into the analysis are “Seven Disturbing Facts About COVID-19 in Louisiana” and “Six Quick Points About Coronavirus and Poverty in the US” written by Bill Quigley a friend of the institute for over 35 years and a national civil rights attorney based in New Orleans. Our hearts are heavy, yet we remain hopeful and diligent to keep organizing. It is during times like these that we need each other even more and to cling to our anti racist organizing principles and values.
